First of 52 Homes in Monnickendam Upgraded with Triple Solar’s Latest Heat Pump
Housing association Wooncompagnie, in collaboration with Gasservice Noord-Holland and Bouwgroep Buitenhuis, has started the sustainability upgrade of 52 social housing units on De Karn in Monnickendam. The first homes have now been converted to fully gas-free living using Triple Solar’s latest heat pump technology.

Why Triple Solar’s Latest Heat Pump?
Jelle de Winter, project manager at Wooncompagnie, explains:
“Our goal is not only to make our homes more sustainable, but also to improve living comfort for our tenants. Triple Solar’s new heat pump operates without an outdoor unit, which makes it quieter for the neighborhood and visually more in line with the architecture. Combined with PVT panels and a thermal battery for domestic hot water, it creates a fully all-electric system that generates both heat and electricity.”
A key challenge in this project is that not all homes can be upgraded to a 3x25A grid connection. To address this, Home Energy Management System (HEMS) developer Econtro designed a smart solution that ensures the heat pump and induction cooktop do not operate at full capacity simultaneously—preventing overload on the existing grid connection.

The Approach
In addition to installing the Triple Solar system, the homes are undergoing a broader renovation. Roofs are being replaced, new window frames are installed, and façades are being insulated. Bouwgroep Buitenhuis is responsible for all structural works, while Gasservice Noord-Holland handles the installation of the heat pumps and PVT panels.
The system extracts heat from the PVT panels on the roof and converts it into energy for space heating and domestic hot water.

Residents Closely Involved
A resident committee was established early in the process to ensure active involvement. They contribute to decision-making and are closely engaged throughout communication and execution. This collaborative approach helps build support and ensures a smooth rollout.

Sustainable and Future-Ready
Wooncompagnie expects all 52 homes to be completed by the end of 2025.
“This project shows how innovation and collaboration can enhance living comfort while reducing energy costs. It allows us to future-proof our housing stock and contribute to a more sustainable future,” concludes De Winter.
