Schiedam

A major sustainability upgrade has recently been completed in Schiedam, where technical installation company Van der Vloed successfully transitioned 44 1970s-era apartments off natural gas. Located along the Rotterdamse Dijk, the properties are part of a homeowners’ association (VvE) and have undergone a comprehensive energy retrofit. This project aligns closely with the Netherlands’ national target to become fully gas-free by 2050.

Originally built in the 1970s, the apartments had an energy label G—indicating poor energy performance. A key element of the renovation was the installation of 200 PVT panels supplied by Triple Solar. These hybrid panels generate both electricity and thermal energy, significantly improving overall efficiency.

Each apartment is now equipped with an individual heat pump from NIBE. To further enhance indoor comfort, low-temperature hybrid convectors from Jaga have been installed in every home.

As a result, all 44 apartments are now fully gas-free. This not only reduces environmental impact but also ensures a future-proof, energy-efficient living environment with improved comfort for residents.
